A great start to the Spring Term!
Date: 19th Jan 2017 @ 8:08pm
Welcome back!
We have had a fantastic start to the new term. It is lovely to see all the children back in school, well-rested and ready to learn. Thank you for all your kind Christmas wishes, cards and gifts. We are really looking forward to the new term and all the exciting activities that we have planned.
In Literacy we are looking at 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes and the class have enjoyed writing their own poems based on the movements and descriptions of the Iron Man. We will continue to explore this text over the course of the term and this will link in with our topic and art work too.
Addition and subtraction has been the focus in Maths over the last two weeks, with the children estimating answers to various number problems and then using the inverse operation to check their answers. This links in with the homework on Mathletics, which reinforces this concept and revises other areas of addition and subtraction. Next week, we will be embarking on a unit of work on multiplication and division so all children are encouraged to brush up on their multiplication facts!
Swimming lessons have started well with plenty of excitment as the children enter school on a Wednesday morning. PE lessons on a Monday wil be Circuit Training so please can your child have a full PE kit in school which includes trainers.
Our class newsletter will be making its way to you shortly with more information about what we will be exploring over the course of the term.
Best wishes,
Mrs Davidson and Mrs Callister
