'Bringing out the best in everyone.' 'Encourage one another and build each other up' 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Collective Worship

At Tilston Parochial Church of England Primary School, we have daily worship taking place at the start of the day, where the whole school gathers together to develop understanding of the Christian faith and enhance spiritual development, During this time, we light the candles, say our welcome words, 'We have gathered together to worship God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to think about our value...'

Monday

We start the week with our Headteacher, Mrs Kelsey Mort, welcoming us to the beginning of a new week. We share a Bible story together and focus on our current value – this half term, we are focussing PERSEVERANCE. We share thoughts about a story, we sing a worship song and we have the opportunity for prayer and reflection. Staff are welcomed and all attend our Collective Worship – this helps us to follow the value throughout the week. Our collective worship leaders support by reading prayers, Bible readings and our welcoming words. Our collective worships run smoothly with the support of our teachnicians, Rory and Lawrence.

Tuesday

We have class worship on a Tuesday. Mrs Mort, our worship leader, plans the worship for all classes and we explore the value at a level appropriate for our individual classes. We have time to discuss and reflect on our value and complete an activity which is later displayed in our reflection areas.

Wednesday

At Tilston School we love to sing and a Wednesday is our special 'Songs of Praise'. We sing a variety of worship songs and usually use this time to prepare for special church events. Our worship leaders invite all children to join in with a closing prayer.

Thursday

Reverend Tim and Revenerd Norma lead worship on a Thursday. They help us to explore our vale for the half term through Bible reading, prayers and songs.

Friday

Friday is Celebration Worship and our worship leaders, values ambassadors and other young leaders lead this special worship. We celebrate achievements throughout the week, both in school and at home. Our values ambassadors each choose somebody who they have seen living out our core values and we share these achievements with parents via our weekly newsletters. Our worship leaders take turns to share prayers.

At Tilston School, we all value our collective worship time together. Worship Leaders regularly feedback on whole school and class worships and we use Blippit to record worships and special church services.

Family Worship

We regularly invite parents to join us for 'Family Worship'. A special time when each class leads a worship for our whole school and parents.

Our Worship Leaders support the Headteacher to develop the Christian distinctiveness of our school. Each week they support Reverend Tim and Reverend Norma as our Vicar's Assistant, preparing and sharing prayers. Our Worship Leaders share a weekly prayer to all families in the weekly newsletter and this is shared during the service at St Mary's church every Sunday.

Our value this half term is PERSEVERANCE (Spring A 2025)

A big part of our collective worship is singing. Below you can find some of our favourite songs to sing along to at home:
