Black History Month

October is Black History month in the UK. In the Robins we talked about significant people around the world who have made an impact on the way we live our life here in the UK and around the world. We learned about Mary Seacole and Walter Tull. Mary Seacole used her own funds to travel to the Crimean War to help injured soldiers using home remedies, on the battle fields. Walter Tull was a black professional football player who fought in the First World War in the football battalion and went on to train to become the first black officer in thr British Army. The children were engrossed in their learning and enjoyed sharing their findings with the whole school in our whole school worship.
